PKJ4000 Series DC/DC Converter

Flex Power Modules' PKJ4000 series of DC/DC converters primarily target RFPA applications within the telecom market segment. There are two variants: one with an output range of 14 V to 35 V at up to 25 A and the other 25 V to 55 V at up to 14 A, offering an output power of 700 W, making them ideal for both LDMOS and GaN-based RFPA applications.

Packaged in the industry-standard half-brick format measuring 2.40 inches x 2.28 inches x 0.50 inches (61 mm x 57.9 mm x 12.7 mm), the PKJ4000 series achieves a power density of more than 255 W/in³. With special attention being paid to thermal design during the development of the product, conduction cooling of the module is optimized via the attached baseplate, which enables full power delivery at up to +85°C ambient, with a +100°C baseplate temperature and zero airflow in closed-box environments, which is typical within RFPA applications.

Other product features of the PKJ4000 include 1500 V input/output isolation, basic level insulation, monotonic start-up, remote sensing, remote control, and a range of protection capabilities, including overtemperature, output short-circuit, and output overvoltage.

Offering a calculated MTBF figure of 6.7 Mhrs, this series has been designed and manufactured by Flex Power Modules to deliver the levels of quality and confidence that power system designers require to develop long-term and high-performance reliable platforms.

The wide range of adjustability of the outputs makes this module suitable for RFPA applications using 28 V LDMOS technology and other applications and markets that require regulated programmable bus voltages, test and automation, industrial control and instrumentation, and more.
