Whether you need to sense the basic presence, or ultrasonically sense distance, today’s industrial sensors can fit the bill. Inductive and capacitive sensors, used to sense ferrous and non-ferrous material, respectively, are short range, robust, and easy to use. Photoelectric sensors are non-contact, fast response presence detection sensors with a variety of orientations. Ultrasonic sensors are used for presence, level, and distance. Process sensors are specialized and used for pressure, temperature, flow and/or force, among others.
