At this time, there are no alternative solutions which can offer both constant current and constant voltage regulation, nor the wide dimming ratios of the LT3956. Additionally, the LT3956 is the only solution which offers and internal 84V, N-channel MOSFET which minimizes the solution footprint. Its fixed frequency current-mode architecture offers stable operation over a wide range of supply and output voltages while delivering efficiencies as high as 94%, eliminating the need for any external heat sinking.
