X1/Y1 Safety Certified Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

Holy Stone Enterprise Co., Ltd. safety-certified ceramic capacitors (SCC series) are typically used in line-to-line (X) circuit applications, where a failure would not result in electrical shock, and in line-to-ground (Y) circuit applications, where failure could cause or lead to electrical shock. Safety-recognized ceramic capacitors can also be used for isolation between telecommunication network voltage (TNV) and safety extra low voltage (SELV) in modems.

X1 and Y1 MLCCs are specifically designed to replace through-hole safety disc capacitors while still meeting industry and agency standards and creepage requirements. These capacitors are available in 250 V_AC, 300 V_AC, and 400 V_AC classes. Capacitance values ranging from 100 pF to 1800 pF are available with an X7R temperature coefficient, and 10 pF to 100 pF with an NPO temperature coefficient, in 3906, 4007, and 4012 sizes to cover the available capacitance ranges. Advantages include reduced PCB real estate and height, lower assembly costs, and the elimination of both manual and automated lead-forming operations before PCB assembly processes.
