Here is each MUX system in general. Pin assignments and peripherals that are available depends on whether that pin has been assigned to the Master subsystem or the Control subsystem. Only the M3 can make this assignment, once made, it can be locked by the M3 for safety. The Master subsystem peripherals are only available if the pin is assigned to the master MUX or at reset, this is the default assignment. The Control subsystem peripherals are only available if the pin is assigned to the Control subsystem MUX. Considering GPIO four and five, if these pins are assigned to the Master subsystem then the M3 can configure the pin to be an M3 GPIO or a communications peripheral such as SSI, CAN or UART. All of these modules are available on the Master subsystem. If these two pins are assigned to the Control subsystem, then the C28x can configure the pin to be a C28x GPIO or an EPWM 3A, 3B output, all these modules are available on the Control subsystem. In the next two slides, this presentation will describe the MUXing within each subsystem.
